They have had her on a laxative for 4 years now and it doesn t appear to be sloving the problem. Before Christmas the said that she has Celiac s now her stool is very smelly and sticky and like tar. Because of this she can not wipe herself and she is 9 years old. We have here in pull ups because sometime it just comes out of her.She is very skinny (weight 53 lbs.) Please help me!!! Scared
Most of the time, newborns with Hirschsprung disease do not have a bowel movement on the first day of life. They have difficulty with constipation as they get older.
Vomiting, intermittent diarrhoea, and failure to thrive(being underweight for age) are the first signs of celiac disease. The stools are frequently fluid or mushy and pale cream to greenish-yellow.
Chronic laxative use can cause constipation. A nine-year-old should not have to wear pull-ups. I am sure this affects her self-esteem. You must have her evaluated by a pediatric gastroenterologist AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
