Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
"A nervous breakdown" is not a very precise term and can be different things to different people. Can you be a bit more specific in what you're feeling in terms of psychological/psychiatric states of mind (i.e. anxiety, depression, fear, stress, being overwhelmed, irritable, constant headaches that don't stop, etc.) It is clearly best to try and take a step back and "regroup" if possible when encountering multiple road blocks in getting daily tasks done. But if a person is having trouble knowing exactly how to do things or even may think they are successfully doing progressing but not sure whether it's working or not then, one needs to seek the counsel of an expert such as a therapist, counselor, psychologist, or psychiatrist. You are right in the assessment that good outcomes when finding yourself in this sort of "confusion of sorts" can take a long time and trying to tackling the whole ball of wax at once is likely to result in more complications.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
