I understand that you are worried that you may be having an
eating disorder. You have mentioned that you don't have control over eating and that you seem to be having many other features of an eating disorder. Also, this age group of late teens is when many eating disorders start.
Some of the typical symptoms of an eating disorder are:
- Refusal to maintain a body weight that is at or above the minimum normal weight for your age and height
- Intense fear of gaining weight or becoming fat
- Having a distorted image of your appearance or shape
- Eating too much food in one go / Bingeing
- Engaging in weight losing behaviours like induced
vomiting, purging, taking water pills, etc.
In your case, you have any of the above features, then you definitely need a detailed evaluation to confirm a diagnosis of an eating disorder.
