Genital herpes classically presents with painful, multiple, discrete erosion/ sores on genital skin or mucosa. The diagnosis is clinically obvious in most cases. The infection is commonly acquired by sexual contact with an infected partner. The risk of transmission is more during an active episode of genital sores but the infection can transmit even during clinically asymptomatic phases. If this indeed turns out to be herpes treatment would require oral antivirals e.g acyclovir/ valacyclovir. Regards
