My girlfriend sad she had pain and went for a test and they told her it is an std but they won t know what until 10 days are up...she asked me if I had any symptoms and I noticed that I have small red spots on my penis and they hurt and I went to a gum clinic and they said it could be herpes and gave me anti vials. They swabbed my penis and said it will take 10 days to see if it s herpes...I have looked at pictures online but i am going out of my mind...is it most likely herpes if my girlfriend is sore and I am also...?
Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic
After going through your query Genital Herpes is a definite possibility, more so since she has been told that it is an STD and moreover since your lesions have also been suspected as herpetic. Genital herpes classically presents with painful, multiple, discrete erosion/ sores on genital skin or mucosa. The diagnosis is clinically obvious in most cases. The infection is commonly acquired by sexual contact with an infected partner. The risk of transmission is more during an active episode of genital sores but the infection can transmit even during clinically asymptomatic phases. If this indeed turns out to be herpes treatment would require oral antivirals e.g acyclovir/ valacyclovir.
