What Are The Symptoms Of Heart Attack?

We are in France at the moment so as our French is very limited you may be able to help me. My husband who is 71 had been very busy all day doing maintenance work on our house. We had our meal in the evening and afterwards as we sat watching TV he suddenly started shaking uncontrollably. This went on for some time and then when it calmed down a bit he decided to go to bed. He then began sweating quite badly although he said he felt cold. He also asked me to get him one of his Lanzoprazole as he had a pain in his chest which he put down to indigestion. As he also has problems eating now he tends to choke his way through most meals could this all be connected. The next morning after quite a good nights sleep he said he felt more or less back to normal. He has had a couple of restful days and seems fine. We are back home the weekend when I will get him a doctors appointment but in the meantime wondered what your thoughts are.

From your history there are 2 distinct possibilities.
1.Either he had spell of angina which was relieved by rest.
2.or he had reflux oesophagitis relieved by pantoprazole.
both these conditions need further work up.Please get his resting ECG done and proceed for further cardiac work up if needed. If cardiac work up is normal then get his upper GI endoscopy done to rule our upper GI pathology.
My best wishes.

Hi,first to tell you there are many reasons for the chest pain hence its is better to consut doctor as early as possible and undergo the basic investigations such as ecg, stress tests, echo to rule out underlying heart conditions, usually chest pain caused due to heart attack causes lot of sweating like your husbands episode hence please be careful and prevent next attack
chest pain is caused by condtions such as panic attak, gastric ulcers or deodenal ulcers, might be due to musculoskelteal pain hence i advise you to consukt your physician to rule out the chest pain due to underlying heart condition

chest pain due to heart abnormality might cause pain which is intolerable which doesnt subside with the pain medications, will have breathing diffficulties during the episode,it might also correlate to your husbands exercise tolerance thats is breathing difficulty and also profuse sweating during this episode,he also might have pain in the left arm which is radiating.

chest pain due to other conditions will have pain related to the meal pain might subside or increase during or after the meal which might be relieved by the antacids

hence i strongly suggest you to take your husband to a physcian and undergo investigations as early as possible and take the appropriate medications.

EARLY INTERVENTIONS AND MEDICATICATIONS WILL INCREASE THE SURVIVAL RATE FOR THE CHRONCIC CONDITIONS
