I was told I had genital herpes about three weeks ago due to my partner performing oral while he had a cold sore developing. My primary outbreak was not that bad and the sores are healing and almost gone. However, even before I had genital herpes, I would get ingrown hairs or razor burn/folliculitis from shaving. I recently just shaved and now I have small white pus bumps. They hurt just a little bit and itch, but I cannot tell if this is another outbreak starting or just simply razor bumps. It looks more like folliculitis because they don t look like the herpes I had but I have very paranoid since being told I have genital herpes. Please help!
Thank you for query.it may be folliculitis due to ingrown hairs. .please use topical antibiotics like fucidin or silverex daily till it subsides. You wear loose cotton clothes.see that there is no friction or irritation. You can use analgesics like brufen if needed.it is unlikely herpes which will have grouped vesicles with burning or itching even in the area not shaved. do not trim hairs too short.you can get tested with IGG for herpes antibody if you are too anxious to allay your anxiety and fear of herpes.Consult doctor if does not subside else You can get back directly to me for any clarifications with the photos.Dr Bharatesh D Basti Dermatologist and Venereologist.
