Im 46 years old and was born with cleft palate had surgery at 4 years old and again at 15 I recently had a piece of ham go up through the back of my throat and the food came out of my nose when I blew my nose is it possible that my palate has opened up a little

food coming from the nose alone cannot say your cleft palate has opened.
i would like you to get examined by your treating physician.
if the palate now is normal i do not think that the food particles would have come from the opened palate.
in the throat there is a connection between the respiratory tract and the Gastro intestinal tract. food particles can come through that.

Dear friend ,as you have told us that last time you have operated for cleft palate at 15 and now you are 46.so there is a long gap of years in between.generally in my day to day practice I find this feature rarely but whatever you have informed about the exit point of that ham I guess the place which was operated has opened a little giving a way for food. you might need another reconstructive surgery but that too only after proper relevent clinical investigation.
