I m curious if this is something I should be immediately concerned about. I was close to sleep, lying on my side with my head slightly propped up, and suddenly my body seemed to enter paralysis and I could only move minimal muscles in my neck and head. It felt like the air was being sucked out of my lungs as I breathed in and I was perhaps hyperventilating but reverse, as I could not get air into my lungs. It was all very sudden, and I couldn t fix it until I turned my head to the right enough to stop whatever it was from happening. It felt like about 15 seconds and has never happened before. This was around 5 days ago.
Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist, Niraj Modi's Response
If you do not have any functional disability after this and your blood pressure is under control it will not be related a stroke. But it may also be related to neck problem. Where due to sudden catch in neck muscle in night you might have got similar feeling or symptoms. Just keep checking your BP regularly daily morning and if it remains high then only need to pay attention and visit doctor to change or start new medication or else it will be fine. Take care.
