What Are The Symptoms Of Pregnancy?

hello, i’m woundering if my girlfriend is pregnant. she has been using the birth control shot for over a year but has now been off of it for over a month. since then we have had unprotected sex a couple times. i have used the pullout method each time. she has been gaining weight gradually the past year and so she has stretch marks throughout her body but yesterday she said that her breasts were feeling sore and that they hurt. she couldn’t lay on her chest without them hurting and i know that that is one of the first signs of pregnancy. but as far as today goes, she has not complained about her breasts hurting and she has waged on her chest numerous times and has not shown any sign of pain. so i do not know what to think. over the 2 years i’ve been with her, she has always had random times of feeling sick for some reason. i don’t know why. she never has vomited though. it’s so common for her to feel sick that i treat it as a normality. when she does feel sick it never lasts long. she hasn’t seemed moody. she hasn’t had to frequently use the bathroom from what i’ve witnessed. she sleeps fine. she doesn’t seemed drained and has no fatigue. (she and i always stay up very late at night and sleep a long time before we get up). but she always seems normal at work and is fine. i do not know if she has started her period or not and she has not told me. she said she might be soon though( she told me that 2 days ago) she has told me about minor cramping about a week ago. she has not said anything else to me about it. she has always had cramps even on the birth control shot so i don’t know what to think about that either. what do you think of all this?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If you had unprotected sex your gf can be pregnant because the withdrawal or pull out method is not cent percent accurate & hence pregnancy can occur. The 'feeling sick' sensation that she is getting might be a sign of fatigue. Morning sickness is felt after 5 or 6 weeks of pregnancy. Weight gain is also a sign of pregnancy. Some symptoms of pregnancy are missed or late period, implantation bleeding (spotting), breast tenderness, fatigue, vaginal discharge, darkness of areola, headache, dizziness, increased urination & morning sickness. If your GF has missed period get a pregnancy test done. Take care.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K.
