I took my daughter to the Dr the other day thinking she had strep, without a blooodtest he said it looked like Mono. Her tonsils seem to be bleeding and she has inflamed red bumps toward the back of her throat. Was checking to see if this is common she had a 102 fever the first three days, which has since broken
Noted the history about your daughter developing tonsillitis, red granules at the back of throat, fever, consulted a Doctor who thinks this to be Mono infection. Well, Mono or strep the treatment remains the same. Surely a throat swab alone can tell the exact cause. The blood tests may show increased WBC count.
Needs a proper course of an antibiotic, anti-inflammatory with fever reduction capacity like a combination of Paracetamol and Ibuprofen. Povidone iodine gargles. Bed rest. Symptomatic and supportive treatment. Plenty of oral fluids. Complete the courses till cured. Also watch for any knee pain and heart related issues.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
