Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM.

Minoxidil can sometimes infact cause an increase in the hair fall initially at the start of therapy because of what is known as Anagen surge, therefore the effects of minoxidil are sometimes not appreciable for the first few months and usually a 6-8 months trial period is what is required for a noticeable improvement.

Anagen surge is actually a sign of response to minoxidil. New hair follicles which begin to grow as a result of minoxidil, push out the resting hair follicles from the follicles which is appreciated as increased hair fall (this is known as Anagen release). This phase usually lasts for 1-3 months during the start of therapy and subsides by its own.

I think you are on the right kind of medication for your hair fall and should stick to it for another 6-8 months.

The only thing i want to add to your prescription is a ketoconazole shampoo since ketoconazole also does seem to exert an anti androgen effect locally.

take care
regards
