Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Cyclobenzaprine is a
muscle relaxant medication, which is used to relieve skeletal muscle spasms and associated pain in acute musculoskeletal conditions. It is usually used along with rest and
physical therapy. It works by helping to relax the muscles.
Initial dose for adults for Muscle Spasm is 5 mg orally 3 times a day.
Based on individual response and requirement, the dose may be increased to either 7.5 mg or 10 mg 3 times a day.
However, this medication is potentially inappropriate for use in older adults.
In elderly individuals, an initial dose of 5 mg can be started, titrating slowly upward based on individual patient response.
Commonly encountered side effects by use of the drug are:
Drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth,
constipation and tiredness. If any of these effects persist or worsen, you need to seek medical attention promptly.
Kindly consult your doctor for evaluation and to adjust the dose as per your needs before increasing the dose as you have thought of doing it yourself.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
