What Are The Uses And Side Effects Of Zoloft Tablets?

I am taking 50mg of Zoloft at night before bed and I ve developed a cold, is it okay to take Nyquil maybe an hour or two after I ve taken my nightly zoloft? I don t usually have side effects or interaction problems with anything. Nyquil and Dayquil are usually the only things that can help me get better.

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Welcome to HCM and thank you for the query.
Zoloft is sertaline which is a selective serotonin receptor inhibitor (SSRI).
Nyquil contains Dextromethorphan . Both increase serotonin levels and there is a chance for serious interaction.
It is advisable to avoid Dextromethorphan. There are many cold remedies devoid of it and you may choose one that may suit you with the pharmacist's help.
If you have more queries, I am available
