What Are The Uses And Side Effects Of Norethisterone?

I have been prescribed northisterone for breakthrough bleeding as I am going on holiday. I am on the combined oral contraceptive pill and when on night shifts forgot to take one. Since I have been having breakthrough bleeding. Will the northisterone help with this? As it isn t a period as I am still taking my contraceptive pills. I am pretty sure it is just breakthrough bleeding from the missed pill. If northisterone does work, how long does it take to have the desired effect? Many thanks

Hello
Since as you mentioned that you are taking contraceptive and forget to take one pill , so bleeding occurs , now you want to postpone this bleeding .
You didn't mention type of contraceptive pills ,because NORETHISTERONE is also component of few oral contraceptive pills .
You want postponement treatment ,so take norethisterone orally 2-5 -10 mg till you require .
You can get result within one day but if bleeding persist then you can increase the doses 10 -30 mg /day orally .
There are few side effects but in comparison t,these are minor ,so take this tablet.
