What Are The Uses Of Oleanz, Trancodol And Valance?

My son is taking oleanz rt 20 ,trancodol 5, and valance od 750 morning and night daily. This dosage has been given for the last 3 months, after the treatment given in the nursing home for one month.My son is behaving very normal now.Is there any chance to reduce the dosage in the coming months? I want to know about the medicines whether they are only controlling the disease or they are also curing it?

oleanz is an atypical anti psychotic,trancodol is a tranquillizer,valance is used to prevent both manic and depressive phases.As far as I know usually after the patient starts behaving normally,these medications will be tapered but this should be done under treating drs guidance only.Even after the patient is completely normal usually a minimum dose of one or two medications will be prescribed by the dr which has to be taken regularly,and this is called maintainance dose.these medications act by altering the levels of brain neurotransmitters,means controlling the disease.but regarding the cure even though these patients are normal for yrs ,when stress or triggering factors are encountered chances of relapse is there which is minimised by maintainance dose.
