What Can I Do About Constant Headache, Constant Nausea And Back Pain A Week After A Spinal Tap Procedure?

I had a spinal tap 8 days ago testing for meningitis, which was negative. however, the side effects following have been debilitating. I have had a continuous headache and nausea the entire time along with back pain. should I allow more time or go get checked out again?

Hi,

Have you been active or resting? Most doctors recommend laying flat for a few hours after the procedure and taking it easy for a day or two. If the headaches are worse when sitting up than laying down, I would call the physician or facility who performed the procedure to get it looked at. It is possible to have continuous leakage of spinal fluid after a spinal tap that can cause persistent symptoms.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
