What Can I Do To Control The Allergic Reactions Caused From My Pet Cat?
Hi. It s been a while I have had an allergy to cats and I have a cat so the allergy isn t getting any better. My symptoms are sneezing, coughing, sore eyes, and lately I get small red swollen spots on my palm. I thought it was all signs of allergies but I decided to visit a physician and I was prescribed with medicine which are used for people with lupus. I don t know whats going on. The doctor didn t tell me anything about having lupus or sth and now I m really scared. Do I need to worry?
Your symptoms of sneezing, coughing, wheezing, soreness or itchiness in the eyes are indicative of allergy due to your pet cat hair or danders. You can have an allergy test done.
Your treating doctor may suggest you to stay away from the pet cat to see how body responds. You have a sensitive skin that may develop rash where the cat may lick or scratch you.
You can take antihistamines. Get physically examined by a GP, he may give you decongestants. Avoid touching or hugging cats, clean the house rigorously, cat fur & dander may trigger allergy.
To rule out lupus you can get screening tests done(CBC, Antibodies test, Urinalysis, chest X-Ray).
