What Can I Do To Treat The Darker Skin On My Butt, Armpits, And Elbows To Improve My Confidence?

I am a black woman and my ass, armpits and elbows are darker than most of the areas in my body, I am very much not comfortable with my skin particularly wearing short or revealing clothing. Is there any thing I could do to treat this? That way I think I will be more confident even getting undressed in the locker room like other girls do without using the private changing room.

Hello,

Black skin is beautiful, you need not hide it or shy away. Skin color does not matter; what matters is healthy skin that is kept clean. However, to solve your problem there are a number of OTC products available like skin brightening serums and creams, with consistent use they help to fade dark spots or darker blemish on skin.

Corticosteroids are topical creams that are typically used to help remove darker areas of skin. Creams and ointments containing retinoids and niacinamide are also helpful when applied to the areas affected. Always apply topical creams in thin layers and after sensitivity testing to avoid inflammation and side reactions. When you have applied the topical cream or ointment, avoid going outdoors.

Do not expose your skin to direct sunrays. Avoid applying deep peels and laser resurfacing. It can affect the delicate parts of the skin and make condition worse. Get clinically examined by a Dermatologist as combination of treatment with topical ointments and creams along with microdermabrasion give better result.

Length of treatment will depend on the cause and severity, as well as individual response, sometimes it takes a year to show results so be patient. Do not haste. Get treated & avoid direct exposure to sunlight. Take care of your hygiene, wear loose fitting soft cotton clothes and keep skin clean.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
