What Can Be Done To Reduce Wheezing, Cough With Yellow, Thick Phlegm?

I have had a wet phlegmy cough for over a month. I can hear my lungs wheezing and the phlegm is yellow and think. Sometimes when the phlegm comes up it is hard to breathe. My chest feels tender from coughing all day & night for so long. I do not smoke and am a 43 yr old woman in good health. What can I do to help myself?

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
1 Asthmatic allergic bronchitis may be the reason behind your trouble. In my opinion avoidance of dust, mite, pollen, hay , fumes , sudden rise and fall of temperature , mold will be helpful for you.
2 The 2nd reason of these symptoms may be bronchiectasis . Diagnosis can be confirmed by X ray chest and sputum examination.
3 Tuberculosis may be the nest reason. Diagnosis can be confirmed by X ray chest and sputum examination.
In my opinion consult a physician and get his opinion.
Good luck.
