What Can Be Taken As An Alternative Of Pentothal?
When I had my hip operation they used sodium pentothal but that shuts down the ability to urinate & bowel movement. I was in the hospital 2 weeks catheters a least 10 times or more. Can anything else be used. This also happened to me when I had a back operation in 1986.

Thiopental Sodium (Pentothal) is general anesthetic of barbiturate group and can be used as anesthetic for short surgical procedures with minimal painful stimuli.
Ketamine HCl is also general anesthetic used for the similar purpose and its action produces rapid-acting anesthetic state with profound analgesia and without the requirement of ventilatory support.
