What Can Be The Life Expectancy For Vascular Dementia?

My 80 year Mum has vascular demencia. She is now getting distressed asking for her mother and doesn't know me (her daughter). She thinks I am her sister. It really upsets me to see her so distressed. I am having to put her in a home which I didn't really want to have to do. What is the life expectancy in this case?

It is hard to say what life expectancy is in this case. The dementia is not usually the cause of death. Death usually occurs from some other cause related to her vascular disease such as stroke or heart attack.
