What Can Cause A Lot Of Fluid Around Heart And Lungs?

My Niece who is 12 days old has been in hospital for the past 5 days, yesterday she was taken to intensive care where she is in a serious condition, the Doctors are saying that only half of her heart is working, She has a lot of fluid around her heart & lungs. We've been told the next 24 hours are critical, Can you tell me what her chances of survival are please, The doctors wont tell us which is tearing us all apart.

The condition is similar to pericardial effusion which is a very typical condition need to be admitted in icu under ventilation. Based on the echo 2d and 3d we can predict the functioning of heart and extent of fluid around the heart we can predict the condition of the child
