What Can Cause Balance Disorder Along With Excessive Sleepiness?

I have problems with my balance, and I call asleep when I am driving. I find it hard to stay in my lane. Yesterday I side swiped a car on the highway at 60 mph. For over a year i have dozed off when I speak with someone. It could be seconds of minutes and when I resume speaking its on a different subject. What do you make of that. YYYY@YYYY

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Balance problems with sudden onset may be due to BPPV or Acute myocardial infarction or transient ischemic attack or arrythmia etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. you have to get it done ECG, x-ray chest, vestibular function estimation and CT brain for stroke. Avoid high rise activity, accompanying person until diagnosis is done. use tablet Vertin thrice a day for five days. Please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
