My son has had a lower eyelid bump that comes and goes but doesnt hurt for the last 18 mo-we figured a chazion.Today we noticed a bb size lump under the eye and above the cheekbone-having no pain. What kind of doctor should we see for this?(btw-he has a bad case of acne and an appt with dermatology this week.)
Looks like " pimple " of the eyelid with recurrences. As you have described the swelling can be active and inactive and thus the names. Inactive is called chalazion and is painless swelling while active infection is painful and needs oral antibiotics, analgesics with hot fomentation. If your dermatologist starts antibiotics then it is fine and after 3 -5 days needs reassessment and if PUS POINT is seen then requires drainage.
