What Can Cause Chronic Appendicitis?

Yesterday I had to goto the hospital as I was having pretty severe pain in my lower right abdomen, it was suspected appendicitis, went for a CT and they found no inflammation of the appendix, but there is calcified feces inside which is partially blocking it, the doctor wasn t exactly 100% on what that meant but the surgical team had decided I didn t need an operation at this point? They were wuite busy, my concern now is what exactly is chronic appendicitis? Am I going to be having to deal with this type of pain until one day it either ruptures or is inflamed enough for them to operate or What?

Hi,

If this is acute and severe appendicitis then it needs to be taken out.

In case of chronic appendicitis, it can be managed medically depends upon the clinical symptoms, in chronic appendicitis rupture is uncommon.

It can be an inflammatory condition if suspecting chronic appendicitis, persistence pain condition may need surgery even if it is chronic appendicitis treated with an antibiotic.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
