What Can Cause Dizziness, Blackouts And Fainting During A Tilt Table Test?

What caused me to pass out faster than my normal during a tilt test? My doctor ordered a tilt test to try and find out if I had POTS. I get dizzy and my vision goes black when I stand up almost everytime but it goes away and isn t severe. When I stand for 10-15 minutes I slowly start to get hot and nauseous, and if I were to stand through that I d eventually pass out. My tilt test lasted 4 minutes, 3 of those minutes consisted of my begging to sit down. Almost instantly after I reached an upright position, i started sweating and i got extremely nauseated. My vision my have gone away a bit but I don t quite remember. I threw up and my hearing became extremely muffled. I couldn t feel the blood pressure cuff squeezing my arm. They said I passed out, so I ll take there work for it. Anybody know why it came on so much faster and more intensely that I normally experience?

Hi,

Tilt-table test is designed to detect one of the most common causes of fainting or lightheadedness, a phenomenon known as postural hypotension (orthostatic hypotension).

Tilt-table testing may be done when heart disease is not suspected of being responsible for an attack of fainting (syncope) or near-syncope.

During the head up position, there will be decreased blood supply to the brain lead to syncope lead to blurred vision or lack of hearing and pass-out.

Please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
