What Can Cause Drowsiness After Taking Prednisone While On Famciclovir And Hydroxyzine?
Hi, Every so many months I get an ulcerative breakout in my mouth. I have taken lysine as a preventative and it seemed to keep them away for a longer time but has to be taken before the breakout. I have had two biopsies and not much help. I ve taken valtrex for a year with no help. My physician has ordered me famciclovir 500 mg three times a day and hydroxine hcl 25 mg. Also, I was given prednisone for the contact dermatitis that I just happen to have right now. I do not tolerate meds well and always try to use the holistic method because of the bad reaction. The pill was so strong i couldn t keep my eyes open. I could never take three of both in a day. Saw the ent right after the pcp and he is dumbfounded. Any ideas? Marion
Hydroxyzine is an antihistamine and may cause drowsiness.
Switch over to some nonsedating antihistamine such as loratadine, desloratadine, and fexofenadine or low-sedating antihistamines such as Cetirizine or Levocetirizine.
