What Can Cause Episodes Of Dizziness?
My wife is eighty-four, has psoriatic arthritis, and eosinophilia. She has had the lower four lumbar vertebrates fused. She has had an operation on her medial meniscus. She takes budesonide inhalation suspension, 0.5 mg/2 ml once a day, Pantoprazole 40 mg, Aleve, and baby aspirin. She putters in the garden, sleeps well, eats sensibly. She has been healthy all of her life until the last ten years, during which time the above-mentioned maladies have occurred. During the past week or so .she has experienced dizziness. She asked me to look up dizziness on the internet to see what information might be found there. So I selected your website. Can you help us?

I would like to explain that her symptoms could be related to an inner ear disorder or chronic degenerations of the cervical spine (considering the fact that she has arthritis).
Other possible to consider would be: low blood pressure or orthostatic hypotension, anemia, thyroid dysfunction, etc..
Coming to this point, I would recommend performing some tests:
- a cervical column X ray study
- complete blood count for anemia
- blood electrolytes
- thyroid hormone levels.
It is also necessary to monitor her blood pressure in sitting and standing up position.
Meanwhile, I would advice having some rest and taking plenty of water for a good hydration. It is also recommendable avoid abrupt movements of the head or standing up.
If her complaints persist, it would be necessary consulting with an ENT specialist.
