What Can Cause Infection In The Inner Ears?

I have an inner ear infection that won t go away. It is greatly painful and I have an emergency appt with an ENT next Monday, but I was wondering what may have caused my infection? I had vomited very forcefully a day or so before my ear started hurting, and some of the vomit had come out my nose on that side and burned a lot. Is it possible bacteria from vomiting started the infection, and if so, does that require special treatment?

Hi,

Inner ear pain may be due to Eustachian tube dysfunction or pharyngitis or rhinitis or allergies or tumor compression etc.

Middle ear infection or retracted tympanic membrane also may present like this.

Avoid cool drinks and cold water. Avoid smoking and caffeine drinks.

Use water vapor inhalation and salt water gargling thrice a day for five days is also beneficial.

Use tablet Sinarest. If your symptoms not improved please consult your doctor, he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
