What Can Cause Intermittent Pain In The Ears?

Hi, I have in the past few weeks had intermittent ear pain, it has so far only happened 1x a week, for 30 to 45 minutes each episode. During the episode my ear is so painful I can barely touch the outside and I can t even put my phone to my ear and it aches around it. I don t remember getting water in my ear but could be possible. Any ideas of what this could be? Or any ear drops or OTC I could get?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Where is the pain in the inner ear or external ear? In inner ear pain may be due to eustachian tube block or infection or allergy etc.

External ear pain may be due to condritis or radiation-induced irritation or external otitis media etc.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Please consult your ENT specialist he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
