What Can Cause Itching In The Feet And Buttocks While On Amoxicillin?

Hi I m a 53 year old male that has been suffering with a chest infection and have been prescribed amoxicillin. 3 days in and I have been getting really itchy feet and some itchiness on butt cheeks. I have never noticed this before when previously prescribed same type of medicine, but I m not one for getting sick generally. However I have had a heart attack several years ago and I was thinking that a possible reaction between meds is happening.

Hi,

Allergic reactions have been observed with many antibiotics. When you have taken amoxicillin first-time body generates antibodies against it. Upon re-exposure of the same molecule, antibody reacts with it and release inflammatory mediators which are responsible for the reaction. So stop the drug, instead, use cephalosporin after consulting your treating doctor. Take levocetirizine 12 hourly for itching.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
