What Can Cause Oral Thrush While On Zoloft For Depression And Anxiety?
my son is 33 years old. his tongue always seems to have a white coat on it and sometimes the skin on the inside of his bottom lip is all white and coming off. He was a drinker, but not for the last 8 months and he is a smoker 4 or 5 a day. he suffers from depression and anxiety and was recently placed on zoloft
It seems like oral thrush and smoking as well as Zoloft can be a contributing factors as these can cause dry mouth leading to yeast overgrowth or Oral thrush. So my suggestion is to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a microscopy of scraping from the tongue can help in confirmation.
If it is confirmed to be Oral Thrush then antifungal preparation like Nystatin mouthwash gargles and sucking Clotrimazole lozenges can help in improvement. Also antifungal pills Luke Fluconzole or Itraconazole can be advised.
Eating plenty of probiotics like yogurt can help in improvement. Cleaning tongue daily with tongue cleaner is helpful.
