What Can Cause Pain And Pressure In The Head Along With Itchy Eyes?

I have been suffering from headaches since December. In the first month, I felt sharp-shooting pain and pressure move throughout my brain. I went to the hospital the next month. They tested my urine and gave me a CT scan- nothing was found on either test. So they made me a follow-up with a neurologist. The doctor tested my blood pressure and saw it was above average; therefore prescribing me to blood pressure pills. I stayed on them for two months, and realized they didn t work and high blood pressure may not be my problem. In the months that follow, the pain started to shift to my face, making my eyes itchy and watering, and pressure build-up. As well as, shifting to my ears, giving me earaches. Just weeks ago, I began working out; hoping again my poor dietary health is the culprit. Eventually, I began tasting a bitter or sour taste seeping down my throat when I try to massage the pain in my head and face; which the substance made me nauseous. It came to the point where I believe I may have a creature(s) attacking me. Recently, I visited another hospital and received another CT scan with the same negative results. I ve been to two hospitals and a neurologist regarding my pain. I m hoping there s an explanation and I m not going insane.

Neurologist 's  Response
Hello,

I think given your history and normal imaging that it is most likely a tension-type headache. It is a very common type of headache commonly exacerbated from stress and anxiety which seems from your account to be a contributor as well. For short term treatment over the counter medication like Ibuprofen is fine along with relaxation, but it the issue persists then preventive medication with amitriptyline may be considered.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olsi Taka, Neurologist
