What Can Cause Pain And Swelling On The Shin After An Injury?

I had a fall last week and went to an urgent care facility. x-rays were taken and no broken bones were identified. my right shin is still VERY sore and swollen. When I push on the skin, it creates a dent and remains for some time, like slicing your finger into Play-Doh.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Injury to the shin without causing fracture can cause damage to the soft tissues that can be even more painful than the fracture itself. There is usually some oedema at the site of injury which produces a pit on pressure.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
