What Can Cause Pain From The Shoulder To The Arm?

pain on upper right arm from the shoulder on down in the night disrupting sleep, I sleep on right side mostly throughout the night but never felt that pain.. has been continuos every night now for about 4 - 6 weeks I would say. In the day it subsides after I m awake an hour or so and for the day but will wake me up in the middle of the night again. I don t think a partially dislocated shoulder would cause that but I have thought about it. I think probably an x-ray is in order?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It may be due to ligament or tendon involvement as in rotator cuff injury.

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Aceclofenac or Tramadol for pain relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopedician and get an MRI scan done for further assessment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
