What Can Cause Red Spots Under Nose Of Small Kids?

My grandson is 2-1/2 and has had a red pinpoint rash of bumps under his nose and around his mouth for several weeks now. Applied several over the counter creams and always looks better in the morning but worsens during the day. Thought juice daycare provides may be at fault but no rash in diaper area.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi,

He might be suffering from seborrheic dermatitis or PERIORAL DERMATITIS. The cause of Seborrheic dermatitis is fungus while perioral dermatitis is due to uncontrolled uses of steroid. So I would advise you not to apply any medication without consulting with a dermatologist.

Seborrheic dermatitis is treated with Ketoconazole while perioral dermatitis is treated with Metronidazole.

Hope it helps. If you have any other question please do not hesitate to contact again.

Regards,
Dr. Atishay Bukharia
