What Can Cause Severe Headaches After Putting A Metal Plate In The Neck?

On August 3rd 2012, I was in a car accident in which I broke my neck, lower back, left arm and pelvis..Thank goodness I am healing, but the neurosurgeon had to put a metal plate in my neck. Now I am suffering from severe headaches. Can the plate cause the headaches? Thank you,Jamie Vires

The plate in your neck, most likely from a fusion of your cervical spine at one or more levels, could be involved in developing headaches. These are more likely from the fusion than the plate itself. If you have seen your neurosurgeon and discussed this problem and he or she is satisfied that the surgery itself has healed correctly, you could benefit from consulting both a physical therapist and a qualified, board certified pain physician.
