What Can Cause Swelling In The Ankles And High BP While On Itraconazole?
Husband has been taking Itraconazole for almost a month now for a fungus infection in his lung. During a bronchoscopy 3 days ago his bp was up to 199 upon checkin and spiked during the procedure to 226. The pulmonologist said to double up on his losartin and go see his PCP which he will do on Monday. Right now his blood pressure is 188/88 and started out earlier today around 150. He is 73 and usually his bp is in the 120s. He doesn't think he needs to go to the ER. Any comment would be appreciated. He's also experienced swollen ankles several times this week.q

Hello, It could be due to dependent edema or renal failure. Consult a physician and get evaluated. An ultrasound scan is required to make a diagnosis. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
