What Can Cause Swelling On Both Sides Of External Urethral Orrafice?

White: Male: 21 years old: Had held off going to the bathroom (Voluntary Emission) till I felt as though my bladder was almost going to burst . When I made it to the bathroom, and began relieveing myself, I notice that the External Urethral Orrafice was swollen on both sides. It alarmed me, but I had to get back to my tasks, so I waited until I got home, and checked myself, and there is no swelling, but it feels a bit tender. Also there is a hint of redness, but it does not hurt, nor did it hurt while I relieved myself. Please let me know your thoughts as to what may have caused the swelling. Thank You, Andrew in Texas

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* The possible swelling on both sides of the external urethral orifice is sounding to be related to an inflammatory reaction.
* The primary cause of inflammation sounds to be stone in the urinary system most likely bladder or urethra, which dislodged during urine passage and caused redness with swelling around the external meatus.
* It is strongly recommended to consult with urine microscopy and ultrasound of the abdomen & pelvis report for further guidelines ahead at this platform.
* Till that time, maintain hydration with plenty of liquids and consume cranberry sachet once daily in a glass of drinking water, provided there is no sensitivity to the same.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
