Hi..I am 24 weeks pregnant & from past few days I have severe groin pain on the right side with lower abdominal pain & numbness in the groin area. Its more severe at nights and does nt let me sit or sleep on the opp side of the pain (left side). I have been digonsed with UTI before but its been cleared in my latest medical report. Please advise the cause for the pain & if there are any pain relief sparys or medications that can be taken during pregancy.
Hi, I have gone through your question. Pain in the right side of lower abdomen without abdominal cramps can be due to ligament stretch during pregnancy or repeat episode of urinary tract infection. The pain of the ligaments stretching increases with advancing pregnancy and is aggravated in a particular position. I would suggest you to consult an OBGYN specialist to get properly examined, investigated and treated accordingly. In the meantime, you should also start doing prenatal exercises, which is quite effective in relieving ligament stretch pain. Analgesic gels can be applied locally for pain relief. Hope you found the answer helpful. Wishing you good health. Regards, Dr Deepti verma
