What Can Cause The Toe Nail To Fall Off While Suffering From Diabetic Neuropathy?
Hi, my name is Helena and i have a question! I am diabetic and i have neuropathy. For no reason at all i lost the nail on my pinky toe on my right foot. I did not bump it or slam it into a door or wall. I wear shoes that are wide and a half size larger than my actual size due to my neuropathy. What caused this??
You said that you suffer from diabetic neuropathy and you lost nail of pinky toe. You want to know why you lost the nail. Due to diabetes as neuropathy occurs, vasculopathy also occurs, which leads to ischemia (decreased circulation) to remote areas of body like toes fingers.
This might be the cause of onycholysis, i.e., loss of nail. Do not worry, the new nail may recover in few weeks,if good circulation is established. Consult the physician and dermatologist for the perfect management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
