What Can Cause White Spots And A Red Lump Behind The Tonsils?

Hi. I ve had a sore throat for about 2 weeks now. I have little white spots on the holes of my tonsils and a pea sized red lump behind my left tonsil, tucked behind the flap so it s hard to see. I thought it was tonsil stones so I ve been gargling warm salt water, which helped with the right side, but my left tonsil (the side with the lump) is still throbbing. Despite the pain subsiding, there are still white spots on both tonsils and a bit of blood ( although very very little). I also noticed my ulvua has a bit of skin or what looks almost like fat hanging off of it by a thread. Tried removing it with a q-tip, which didn t hurt but also didn t remove it. My glands are not swollen, but I m in a lot of pain on the left side when I swallow. SOS what is wrong with me?!

Hi,

It looks like a throat infection causing Tonsillitis and Pharyngitis and along with it if there are tonsil stones then it can cause increased inflammation and pain.

So it is advisable to once get yourself checked clinically and if needed a throat swab culture can be done for confirmation.

If there is infection then a course of antibiotics like Azithromycin can be advised to you along with anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen and do warm saline gargles.

Suck Cepacol lozenges. For tonsil stones, it is better to do gargles with hydrogen peroxide and water in a ratio of 1:1. Avoid excessive intake of dairy and drink plenty of water.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
