What Can Happen If Snapping Hip Syndrome Is Left Untreated?

My little brother is 23 and mentally and physically disabled., he has had deformed hips his entire life, but they didn't start affecting him until he was about 16 years old. They continuously pop in and out of socket. First he quit walking at around 16 and then he quit crawling a few months ago. Now he doesn't want anyone to touch him. I think he needs a total hip replacement, but my mother doesnt want to put him through that. What should we do, and what happens if it goes untreated?

Hi,

Surgical correction is rarely required and most of the cases respond well with conservative measures. You can consult an orthopedics and get evaluated. He can try stretching exercises and steroid injection. Most of the cases respond well and surgery seldom required.
