What Can I Do For Double Breaths In My Child Due To Excessive Crying?

My 4 month old baby just had an extreme crying fit due to being overtired but now (even though he's asleep) is doing a double breath. I've seen it last for a few minutes where someone who is crying hard is trying to catch their breath but this has been a good 20 minutes now. Is there anything I can do or will he re-compose himself eventually?

He will recompose himself, as this is a breath-holding spell. It has no negative consequences except for the discomfort and the fear it causes in the parent or care-giver. You may make him cry again through the holding episode by administering a little pain to him or splashing him with cold water.
