What Care Should Be Taken After Being Pricked By Used Needle?

My daughter pricked herself with a sewing needle at school today, there was no blood but she has a red mark. This needle will have been used by other children and she has mentioned previously kids being silly and pricking themselves, so I don't know the history of this needle. Should I be concerned about this exposure?

Hello
After reading your query I recommend you , please read this carefully and you will receive your answer.
The large multi-institutional studies have indicated that the risk of HIV transmission following skin puncture from a NEEDLE that was contaminated with blood from a person with documented HIV infection is ~0.3 % ( but this study is for HIV infected persons , while in your daughter case all the children in school must be HIV free).
Further it also depend on that a procedure involves a NEEDLE placed directly into the vein or artery or a deep injury ( but in your daughter case all these conditions were not present).
Red spot on finger may be due to needle prick .
In my opinion there is no chance of getting HIV infection by your daughter .
Hope this will help you.

I guess she is vaccinated for Hepatitis B . If not get her vaccinated for Hep B . In this scenario the transmission of HIV as such is negligible. No worries.
