Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been sick for the past five days. Was seen at the urgent care four days ago with vomiting and diarrhea. I was given IV fluids then sent home with Phenegran and Zofran. I am still having the diarrhea that smells like burnt rubber and only occasional vomiting. Still weak and tired. Results from my stool/urine samples have not come back. No fever but I have been getting frequent dizzy spells and sweating spells when the urge to hurry to the bathroom because of the diarrhea hits me. Sometimes a few hot flashes.
Hi. Thanks for the query. Your symptoms suggest that you have gastro intestinal infection. The medication you have received takes care of the vomiting but nothing for the loose stools. If I were your treating doctor, I would started you on antibiotics till I wait for the test results. In your case, if the results are still far to come, please visit your doctor and request for a course of antibiotics. Hope I have answered your question.
