What Cause Bruise On Front Portion Of Ear?

I have a 4 year old girl who has a bruised looking top portion of her ear. She fell on one of her toys on the floor the other day but didn t cry much and I can t remember which side she fell on. Can that really have caused such an intense looking bruise?

Hello,

I can understand your concern. As facial area has ample blood supply, even a minor injury looks big on face.

The girl might have fallen on the toy or she may have scratched the top of ear herself. If she is comfortable and not having any symptoms like fever, continuous bleeding from the site, swelling etc., then you can give injury the time to heal by itself. If she develops any symptoms mentioned here, then you should visit a pediatrician as they are signs of infection.

I recommend keeping the area clean with antiseptic and you can do ice application. I hope this information helps. Thank you for choosing HCM. I wish your daughter feels better soon.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
