What Cause Diarrhoea With Blood In A Child?

Hello, my 3 month old daughter has diarrhea and I took her diaper and they counted lots of white blood cells. She also had some amount of blood in her stool. The baby looks happy, nothing bothers her, she eats well (breastmilk only). But they tell me she has infection and needs to be treated with antibiotics. Ho can that be?

Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Presence of blood in a breast feed baby, infective etiology has to be ruled. Also local anal lesion like anal fissure has to be ruled out. Baby is healthy accepting feeds are all good signs.
