Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 55 years old female experiencing dizziness, just had CT of the brain last week with result of lesion in the atrium of the right lateral ventricle likely representing a choroid plexus cyst 5x4 cm. MRI was recommended, working on getting an appointment ASAP. I need information what is this cyst ? I am worried. What are the treatments ? Any information is heartfully appreciated.
They are typically small and asymptomatic and are discovered incidentally in older patients, usually in the trigone of the lateral ventricle. Symptomatic CPCs (usually exceptionally large, 2-8 cm) are rare. You are in the rare group and this might be causing the dizziness. Surgery is the best way to treat such a cyst. If ignored, it can cause lot of discomfort due to size enlargement and there will be persistent dizziness with the risk of development of increased intracranial pressure requiring emergency surgery. Surgery done is often minimally invasive with endoscopic asiistance.
