General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Such lump can be a cyst, hemorrhoid or an abscess. Cyst is usually soft and painless. Hemorrhoid should be attached to anus verge. Blood in the stool can be present as well as itching.
Abscess is usually hard and painful. Swelling can be present.
I suggest your husband to consult general surgeon. In case of doubts an ultrasound and colonoscopy should be done.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
